Our Story

Pixnote was born from the desire to create an environment where anyone can enjoy creating pixel art, anytime and anywhere. Traditional pixel art tools required PC installation and were difficult to use on the go or on smartphones.

With the simple concept of "create pixel art with just a browser," the first version was released in 2018. Since then, we have continuously added features and improvements based on user feedback.

Why Pixnote is moving forward again

It Started Because the Right Tool Didn't Exist

Pixnote's origin goes back to when I first encountered programming. It was the era of "power on, straight to BASIC" — no apps pre-installed, just typing in dump listings from magazines. I wanted to create worlds like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, but as soon as I started trying to make a game, I hit a wall: "What tool am I even supposed to use to draw characters?"

There was no pixel art tool that fit my needs. "If it doesn't exist, I'll just build it." Creating the tool I needed to make games — that was how everything started.

Through the Ages, Beyond the Dark Knight Era

Many years passed. I was always on the front lines of development, but there were times I carried the weight of a "Dark Knight" — struggling through battles of my own.

A turning point in life, and an unexpected moment, led me to face the same challenge once more: "If I'm going to make games, I need to build the tools first." Pixnote restarted as a personal tool, but gradually found its way to many users. Whenever I find the time, I work on shaping it into something better for everyone.

In the Age of AI, the Weight of Every Single Pixel

We live in an era where AI can generate sophisticated images in an instant. Still, I think there's a unique value in "primitive, simple experiences."

Pixel art is a lot like building a model kit. Placing colors one pixel at a time, gradually shaping something, then seeing it move. Using it in your own games and animations. I believe that very process — investing time and effort — is what shapes the culture of creation that's uniquely human.

Your Creations, for Generations to Come

Not images consumed and forgotten in an instant, but works you shaped with your own hands through trial and error. In a world that keeps optimizing for efficiency, I think the value of that only grows.

"The joy of creating, together."
